Staffs, or staves as they are sometimes called, are a common item throughout the world used for a variety of purposes, commonly as walking assistants amongst aged individuals. Some warriors, such as monks, use staffs as weapons. However, staffs are perhaps best known as the implements of wizards or sometimes artificers. Many conservative wizards particularly favor staffs, since they not only serve the purpose of channeling arcane magic but can also become crutches in age and infirmity as well as a means for defense.
